The DENR-6 and the environmental office of the Cadiz City government recently issued a stoppage order and notice of violation against house owner Florante Halipa as well as lot claimant Francisco Villanueva.

The two-story concrete house is within the premises of the Northern Negros Natural Park (NNNP).

Neither Halipa or Villanueva got a permit prior for the construction from the DENR-Protected Area Superintendent (PASu).

“By the name itself, protected areas should be protected. We at the DENR always remind the public that it is important to protect and conserve our precious natural resources. By doing so, we work hard towards the attainment of sustainable development for all,” said DENR-6 Director Livino  Duran.

Located in the northwestern part of Negros Island, the NNNP is home to endangered endemic species such as the Negros bleeding heart dove, Visayan warty pig, Visayan spotted deer, and the Red lauan.
