BUTUAN CITY – Police recently launched a project to connect with the community and also cool down during hot days in the Caraga region.
“Project: Ice Candy,” an initiative of Police Col. Harry B. Domingo, commanding officer of the 13th Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFBn), the 1301st, 1302nd, 1303rd, and 1305th Maneuver Companies distributed home-made iced candies, a frozen confection and a favorite Filipino “summer” treat, to motorists passing police checkpoints in Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, and Agusan del Norte.
“Project: Ice Candy is a feat that reflects the generosity and kindness of PNP personnel,” Domingo said.
“It eventually shows that policing does not end with enforcing the laws but also includes displaying a simple act of kindness that may find its way into winning the hearts of the people,” the 13th RMFBn commander added.
Commuters who passed by the checkpoints commended the unit’s noble and humanitarian task.
“This is also one way to win the people’s hearts,” said PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II.
