Anti-drug cop shot dead in North Cotabato

Unidentified gunmen killed an anti-drug cop in Kabacan, North Cotabato on Tuesday night, April 11. Police Col. Harold Ramos, Cotabato police director, identified the victim as Police Staff Sgt. Abejay Dandan, 35, assigned to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cotabato Police Provincial Office. Dandan was driving his Toyota Innova service vehicle from Carmen, North Cotabato when he was waylaid by the suspects aboard a Sports Utility Vehicle and pickup truck in Barangay Katidtuan. Police said the suspects, armed with automatic rifles, tailed the victim and opened fire as they overtook his vehicle. Dandan sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died while being treated in hospital in Kidapawan City. The police and military have launched pursuit operations against the suspects.
