With signal no.1 hoisted over most of Bicol, Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co bared on Wednesday morning, April 12 that his group is ready to provide assistance to locals affected by Tropical Depression "Amang". "The safety and well-being of the Bicolanos, especially during times of calamities like this, are our top priority," said Co, who chairs the Committee on Appropriations in the House of Representatives. According to the House leader, relief goods have already been prepositioned while the party-list's volunteers have been placed on standby. "We have coordinated with local authorities and have prepositioned relief goods in strategic locations to ensure that we can immediately provide assistance to those who will be affected by the storm. Our volunteers are also ready to help in any way possible," he said. As per the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No.1 has already been raised in Bicol, particularly in Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, and Camarines Norte. Co, who is on his second term as a congressman, also urged the public to take the necessary precautions and follow the guidelines set by local disaster operation centers. These guidelines include monitoring and implementing localized evacuation in areas exposed to storm surges, floods, flash floods, and landslides. He hopes that by doing so, the risks posed by the forecasted heavy to intense rain can be minimized, and everyone can stay safe and secure. "We are here for you, and we will do everything we can to help," Co said.
