Adzhar Usman Langkang and Karasan Turabin Anta surrendered to the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), Joint Task Force-Basilan, and their counterparts from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (NICA-BARMM).

The surrenderers and their firearms, a caliber .30 M1 Garand rifle and an M16 Rifle with magazines and ammunition, were presented to Rear Admiral Donn Anthony L. Miraflor, NVFM commander, with other military officers as witnesses.

The surrenderers were remnants of a Basilan-based Abu Sayyaf Group band under commander alias “Junga.”

The surrenderers attributed their decision to the hardship they experienced from a series of encounters with government forces in Kalauan Island, Al-Barka, Basilan in March.

They underwent a medical examination at the Camp Navarro General Hospital here prior to their turnover to Joint Task Force Basilan.

They are expected to be included in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration (E-CLIP) Program and Program Against Violent Extremism (PAVE) for ASG members in Basilan.
