Mayor Joy commends QC traffic enforcers for dedication to duty

The Quezon City government on Tuesday, April 11, recognized 14 personnel of its Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD) who went above and beyond their duty in ensuring the safety of the public. Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the awarding of the “Dedication to Duty Above Self Award” to the selected traffic enforcers for their courage to put the safety of others before themselves and dedication to serve the QCitizens.

It was held after the flag ceremony at the Quezon City Hall on Tuesday. Three personnel who already passed away were also given posthumous awards while Jeffrey Antolin, a traffic enforcer who died in a road accident last month was conferred the “Bayani Ka” Award. The certificates of recognition were given to their families. The incident which caused Antolin’s death occurred early morning on March 22. He was directing traffic along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Barangay Balingasa, Quezon City when he was hit by a trailer truck. Belmonte had earlier said that Antolin pushed a pedestrian away from an approaching trailer truck whose driver failed to follow his signal, but he himself was hit and run over by the vehicle. The mayor gave recognition to the traffic enforcer for his heroism and bravery while performing his duty. Also present at the awarding ceremony were Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, city councilors, TTMD Chief Dexter Cardenas, and Human Resources Management Department Head lawyer Noel Del Prado.
