Mayor Olivarez calls on residents to be responsible pet owners
Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez urged city residents to be responsible pet owners and update the rabies vaccination of their dog and cat pets yearly to prevent the increase of rabies cases in the city. Olivarez advised residents to visit the Facebook page Parañaque Public Information Office (PIO) to know the schedule of mass anti-rabies vaccination to be conducted by the team of the City Veterinary Services Office (CVSO). He said the CVSO is coordinating with other barangays on their priority areas such as the rabies positive boundaries for better control going inward to barangays where the risk is lower. The mayor said the CVSO already coordinated with three villages in the city and started the conduct of mass anti-rabies vaccinations in Barangays BF Homes, Tambo, and San Dionisio. The anti-rabies vaccination in Barangay BF started on April 11 at the Barangay Hall in Sampaloc Site II, April 12 at Barangay Hall in Mashville, April 13 at BF Barangay Hall and on April 14 at Dela Rama, Lagoon, Ipil Site and Clinicville Barangay Hall. In Barangay Tambo, the mass anti-rabies vaccination will be held at the Seaside Court on April 12. In Barangay San Dionisio, the schedule of the mass anti-rabies vaccination will be on April 17 in Area I -Fourth Estate; April 18 in Area 6-Fourth Estate, Casa Filipina; April 19 in El Fuentebello;  April 21 at Seacom; April 24 in Barangay Village in Camella Homes; and April 25 in San Antonio Valley 5,8,9 and 10. The mayor is asking for the full cooperation of the city residents in order to stop the spread of the highly fatal disease in the city after the CVSO recorded three cases since January compared to January 2022 with the same number for the whole year.
