DICT activates another free Wi-Fi site in Central Luzon
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has activated another free Wi-Fi site in Central Luzon, but this time it was located in the municipality of Bulakan in the province of Bulacan.
“The DICT Region 3, with the support of local government units (LGUs), has installed and activated [a] free Wi-Fi site at Tabang Elementary School [in] Bulakan, Bulacan, which can be used for their studies,” said DICT Central Luzon on Tuesday, April 11.
“Public schools and state universities and colleges (SUCs) are public places that are of high priority for the rollout of free Wi-Fi sites,” it added.

The establishment of free Wi-Fi sites is inline with the administration’s vision of making the Philippines a digitally competitive nation. In a text message, the DICT told the Manila Bulletin that as of March 2023, they have so far activated a total of 4,108 sites, serving over three million unique users. The DICT also disclosed that they are aiming to establish 8,495 free Wi-Fi sites in 2023. This, however, is relatively lower compared to the previous target of 15,834 disclosed by DICT Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo.
