The provincial government of Rizal and the local government unit of Taytay have assured continuing assistance to the victims of two recent fire incidents. The office of Mayor Allan de Leon said the provincial government and the municipal government of Taytay are now processing the financial and burial assistance for the families of seven individuals who perished in the Easter Eve fire that hit a community in Barangay San Juan,Taytay, Rizal. De Leon, in his post on his Facebook page, said the office of Rizal Gov. Nina Ynares, through the Provincial Social Welfare Department, was processing the release of burial and financial aid for the bereaved families. The provincial government has also sent food packs and hygiene kits to the more than 60 families whose houses were gutted by the blaze in Barangay San Juan on April 8 and in Barangay Dolores on April 9. A report from the Rizal Police Provincial Office identified the fatalities as Joey Hernandez, 43; John Caizen Hernandez, 12; Lilia Macaranas, 65; Carla Hernandez, 32; Marih Cristina Javier, 34; Martina Rolaine Javier, 2; and Jelyn Gamas, legal age, all residents of No. 68 Rosario Street, San Juan, Taytay. It was learned that the head of the Hernandez family was out for work when his wife, daughter and four other family members were trapped in their residence located in a compound on Rosario Street during the blaze. The fire victims are now temporarily seeking shelter in a covered court in Barangay San Juan. In Sitio Bato-Bato, Barangay Dolores, Taytay, 148 families lost their homes in a separate fire incident in the early morning on April 9. When reached for update, the Taytay Bureau of Fire Protection said the probe is still ongoing to determine cause of the two fire incidents. A youth organization in Barangay Dolores is now soliciting donations for the fire victims.
