BACOLOD CITY – Property totaling P7 million was lost in a fire that hit a public market in Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Monday, April 10.

Chief Insp. Rodel Legaspi, provincial fire marshal, said the fire broke out around 1:15 a.m. It reached second alarm after 30 minutes when the fire grew bigger, he added. This prompted firefighters from neighboring stations to augment those in the area, Legaspi said. Fire out was declared at about 2:59 a.m. No injuries were reported. Cause of fire is yet to be determined. Negros Occidental Rep. Emilio “Dino” Yulo III visited affected store owners and extended assistance to them.
