A man who posed as a police officer was arrested by the Makati City police on Sunday evening, April 9.
Based on the report of the Makati police station, the suspect was identified as Lenard Atienza, 20.
According to the initial investigation, a taxi driver sought the assistance of a security guard after he delivered the suspect to his destination on East Street, Ayala Center in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City at around 8:10 p.m.
The driver claimed that the male passenger introduced himself as a police officer. The suspect also asked him for money.
The guard and the taxi driver approached the suspect who was wearing a Philippine National Police (PNP) athletic uniform and police field cap while he was walking.
Atienza was unable to present a PNP ID.
He was brought to the Makati City Police's Ayala Sub-Station.
The case was referred to the Makati police’s Investigation and Detective Management Section.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Article 177 or the “Usurpation of Authority” and Article 179 or “Illegal Use of Uniforms and Insignia” of the Revised Penal Code.
