‘Dispatcher’ gunned down in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A man who was previously convicted for a drug offense was shot dead at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2 here on Saturday, April 8.

Killed was Stephen Bachoco III, 32, of Purok Tahong, Barangay 2, a “dispatcher.”

Capt. Jonito Pastrana, head of Police Station 2, said the victim was supposed to meet someone when an unidentified assailant shot him from behind.

Pastrana said the wounded victim was able to run, but he was chased by the suspect, who shot him again in the head. The victim was declared dead in a hospital.

Recovered by police from the crime scene were fired bullets of a .45 caliber firearm.

Pastrana said the victim might have been monitored by the suspect prior to the incident.

Pastrana said they already have a lead on the perpetrator, who might have grudges against the victim possibly due to a failed illegal drug transaction.

Pastrana said the victim was previously jailed at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City for a drug offense, according to his family.

Pastrana said the victim was also included in the drugs watchlist of other law enforcement units here.

In 2019, the victim was also arrested for illegal possession of deadly weapon here, according to Pastrana.
