DILG leads inspection of NCR LGUs' compliance to water management protocols

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will conduct from April 12 to 18, 2023 assessments and onsite inspections on the implementation of policies related to the management of municipal waters and aquatic resources in the National Capital Region.
After the scrutiny of the assessment reports, the Regional Validation Team (RVT) on April 19, 2023 will deliberate its findings on the local government units (LGUs) compliance on the management of their local waters.
“The DILG-NCR, through the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program Regional Management Team (MBCRPP-RMT), commenced this year’s implementation of the 2022 Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) with the assembly of its Regional Validation Team (RVT),’’ the DILG noted.
Earlier the DILG-NCR, Pangisda Pilipinas and new RVT members the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-NCR, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD)-NCR, Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Pangingisda Natin Gawing Tama (PaNaGaT) and Tanggol Kalikasan, were oriented on the process and tools to be used during the validation and the timeline within which to complete their tasks.
Subsequently, the five coastal LGUs in metro manila particularly the Cities of Las Pinas, Manila, Navotas, Paranaque, and Pasay, were also provided with the guidance and assistance in preparing the necessary Means of Verification (MOVs) submissions and refreshed on the tools to be used by the RVT in its work.
The FishCA was established by the DILG in order to monitor compliance of the LGUs to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2018-59 and Republic Act (R.A.) No. 8550 otherwise known as the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998 as amended by R.A. No. 10654.
