Boy drowns on Easter Sunday in Iligan City beach

ILIGAN CITY – A seven-year-old boy drowned in Barangay Tomas Cabili here on Easter Sunday. The father of the victim from Barangay Tomas Cabili told police that his son was swimming in the beach at around 1 p.m. when he suddenly disappeared. Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) spokesperson Police Major Zandrex Panolong said a search and rescue operation was immediately conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard and City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) and the victim was found at 2:20 p.m. unconscious on the water. He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the duty physician.
