A 15-year-old girl in Rizal and a male victim in Bohol were saved by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) from near drowning during its Holy Week operations. PRC saved two people from near-drowning incidents during the Holy Week break. The girl was provided with medical assistance in Wawa Dam's tourism section in Brgy. San Rafael in Montalban while the male drowning victim was assisted while he was staying in a resort in Panglao. The PRC Emergency Medical Services from the Rizal Province Branch and PRC Bohol chapter quickly responded to the scene and provided emergency medical care to the patient --- including opening the airway --- which led to regaining their consciousness.

PRC Chairman Dick Gordon commended the quick response of the PRC Emergency Medical Services team and emphasized the importance of having well-trained emergency medical personnel and proper equipment in place to respond to such emergencies. “This incident serves as a reminder of the crucial role that the Philippine Red Cross Rizal Chapter - Rizal Province Branch plays in saving lives and promoting public safety in our communities,” he said. “Kudos to the PRC Rizal Chapter for their exceptional work in responding to emergencies and saving lives,” he added. As of 8 am on Monday, April 10, the PRC Emergency Medical Services volunteers and staff have already assisted 5, 234 individuals, who had their blood pressure taken and experienced dizziness, laceration, abrasion, blister, loss of consciousness, numbness, sea urchin and bee sting, convulsion, chest pain, the difficulty of breathing, headache, and swelling.
