14-year old boy dies after being hit by coconut tree

TACLOBAN CITY - A 14-year-old student died after being hit by a sawn coconut tree in Brgy. San Miguel, Lavezares, Northern Samar, Monday (April 10). The suspect, identified as Noe Beraya, 36, a chainsaw operator, also a resident of said town personally reported the incident and requested police assistance to bring the victim to Allen District Hospital. Initial report disclosed that the said suspect was cutting a coconut tree using in the mountainous area of Brgy. San Miguel. Beraya attested that he checked the area where the coconut tree was about to land. He then continued to cut the coconut tree upon confirming that the area was clear. However, the suspect noticed a person shouting that the victim was hit by the said coconut tree. He was pronounced dead by the attending physician in the hospital, while the suspect has been placed under the custody of Lavezares Police for documentation and proper disposition.#
