Nephew stabs uncle seven times in Rosario, Batangas

CAMP GEN. MIGUEL MALVAR, Batangas City – A 28-year-old man was arrested after he stabbed his uncle on Saturday dawn, April 1, in Rosario town.

Batangas police director Col. Pedro Soliba identified the suspect as Rodney Gruta, a resident of Barangay Marilag in Rosario, while the victim was identified as Efren Gruta, 56, also a resident of the said village.

The police were alerted at around 2:45 a.m. by MVM Hospital that it had admitted a patient with seven stab wounds.

Police readily proceeded to the hospital to conduct an investigation and a follow-up operation for the arrest of the suspect.

Based on the investigation, the victim had just emerged from a drinking session and was about to accompany his friend home when the suspect followed him and stabbed him several times.

The victim, who is an uncle of the suspect, was transferred to Batangas Medical Center. The suspect is now under custody of Rosario Police.
