President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said he will be spending Holy Week the way he usually did -- rest.

The President said this as Filipinos prepare for the Holy Week next week.

In an interview with reporters in Bataan, the President said he will be spending Holy Week with his family.

"Ako simple lang (It's simple for me). I'll do what I do every year," he said.

"I go into retreat for a few days, and then I'll spend Easter with my family," he added.

Marcos has assured the public that the government is prepared for the upcoming Holy Week, saying they have been working on measures for quite some time now.

"We have to make everybody-- make sure that everybody's comfortable that they can get to where they want as quickly as possible," he said.

"Sa palagay ko naman nakahanda naman kami (I think we're prepared)," he added.

With this, Malacañang issued Memorandum Circular No. 16 on Friday, March 31, declaring a half-day work day on April 5, Wednesday, for government workers under the Executive Branch.

The move, which suspends work in the Executive Department from 12 p.m. on Wednesday, would allow workers to prepare for the Holy Week holidays, particularly the long weekend from April 6 to April 10.

However, agencies whose functions involve delivering basic and health services, preparedness or response to disasters and calamities, and performing other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services.
