Cops arrest man tagged in robbery-slay of La Salle-Dasma graduating student
Police have arrested a suspected robber who was tagged in the killing of a graduating student of Dela Salle University-Dasmariñas Campus during a follow-up operation on Saturday, April 1.
Angelito Erlano, who has previous involvement in robbery cases in the past, was earlier identified by the local police as responsible in the killing of Queen Leanne Daguinsin whose body was found inside her dormitory on March 28.
Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr., chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said Erlano was earlier identified through a closed-circuit television footages near the dormitory where Daguinsin was found dead.
He said Erlano was collared in Purok 4, Barangay Victory Reyes, Dasmarinas City after police intelligence operatives were posted in areas where he would likely seek refuge. At around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, he was seen in the area which resulted in his arret.
The body of Daguinsin was found after her classmates checked on her after being absent for several days. She was not also responding to messages.
During the raid on the house of Erlano on march 29, police recovered a black shirt with a white stripe and a blue t-shirt marked with a trademark eagle, believed to have been used by the suspect during the commission of the crime.
Police also found a black backpack bag with a Sena brand, believed to be owned by the victim.
Azurin commanded the Cavite police for aggressively pursuing the case.
"We condemn this heinous crime and we will ensure that the perpetrator will be put behind bars and be punished for the crime he committed,” said Azurin.
“We also thank the public for the cooperation they made with the authorities and for the information that have provided for the arrest of the suspect,” he added.
