Royevel Palma, Ezra Jalandoni and Glory Alonzo took turns at the mound in completing Hong Kong hitters to a hutout while the Blu Girls’ top hitters went on a scoring clinic to secure the abbreviated win. "It was a great performance by the girls and it will augur well for their confidence heading to their next match against host Korea,” said ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier referring to their afternoon match at press time against the host. The Filipinas are seeking one of the three tickets to the XVIII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup scheduled in July in Europe. But they would have their hands full as the competition gets stronger after their showdown with the South Koreans. The Philippines, seeded fourth with their world No. 30 ranking, is set to tackle Thailand in the morning Monday, April 3, and World No. 2 Chinese Taipei in the afternoon the same day. Then it will be Singapore and the great wall of China Tuesday, April 4, then India on Wednesday, April 5, and World No. 2 Japan on Thursday, April 6. The semifinal round is on Friday, April 7, and the medal round on Saturday, April 8, assuming the team advances that far. "I'm satisfied with the way the team played today. But the competition gets tougher and I'm confident the girls will be up to the task," said Blu Girls Coach Randy Dizer.
