BLACKPINK Jisoo’s first solo album sells more than 876,000 copies on first day of release


K-pop group BLACKPINK member Jisoo’s launched her first solo album with impressive results. 

Jisoo released her single album “Me” on March 31, becoming the final member of BLACKPINK to have a solo project after Jennie, Lisa and Rosé. 

“FINALLY! I get to share my first solo album 'ME' with you all! I hope that the BLINKs who waited patiently for me would enjoy it & hope everyone gives my album a listen,” Jisoo posted on Instagram. 

According to Korea’s Hanteo Chart, Jisoo’s “Me” sold a total of 876,249 copies on the first day of release on March 31 to top the daily physical album chart. 

In addition, the album’s main track “Flower” topped iTunes’ songs chart in 57 countries and territories including the US, Philippines, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Thailand and France. 

It also topped real-time charts in South Korea including Melon, Genie and Bugs. 

Meanwhile, the music video for “Flower,” released on YouTube on March 31, has garnered 38 million views as of 9:27 a.m. on April 1. 

Jisoo’s “Me” garnered more than 1.31 million copies in pre-orders in three weeks, breaking the record for a single album by a K-pop female solo artist.
