Lady Bulldogs face Maroons

National University seeks to bounce back after seeing its 20-game win streak snapped before its eyes in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, March 8, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. 

The Lady Bulldogs (2-1) will get the pent-up frustration off their chest following their painful loss to the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses last March 4 when they take on University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons (1-2) in the finale of the quadruple-header at 4 p.m. 

After recovering from a two-set deficit in their five-set affair with UST, NU couldn’t hold out any longer and dropped its first game since 2020. 

But the embattled UP, which earned its first win in three outings against University of the East last March 5, is hoping to extend its stay in the win column. 

In the first offering of the day, De La Salle (3-0) is gunning to make it a dream 4-0 start when it faces the winless UE (0-3) in their 10 a.m. encounter. 

Rookie Angel Canino has carried out the game-winning performance in the Lady Spikers’ three starts capped off by a career-best 23 points in their sweep of the Ateneo Blue Eagles last March 5. 

The Lady Warriors, though, face a tall task in the streaking Lady Spikers as they hope to arrest their three-game slide. 

In another play, UST (2-1),which is coming off a morale-boosting upset win over the reigning champion, will be all up in its arms when it meets with the equally momentum-gaining Adamson (2-1) at 2 p.m.

On the other hand, Ateneo (1-2) and Far Eastern University (1-2) will attempt to push themselves out of the pit when they tussle at 12 noon.
