LAGUNA – Two new witnesses in the alleged hazing death of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig have come forward to cooperate with the police. Biñan City Police Station (CPS) Chief Lt. Col. Virgilio M. Jopia told the Manila Bulletin on Tuesday, March 7, that the new witnesses are members of Tau Gamma Phi fraternity who also underwent the welcoming rites. They are set to file complaints against the suspects. “Ki-norroborate nila ’yung participation ng previously-identified na suspects na kasama sa initiation, kasama sa pagba-baon ng bangkay. Dala lang nila 'yung mga evidence nila, like 'yung shorts na isinuot nila 'nung pinalo sila (They corroborated the participation of the previously-identified suspects in the initiation and burying of the body. They brought pieces of evidence, such as the shorts they were wearing then they were hit),” Jopia said in a phone interview. The police chief also confirmed that the complainants said Salilig received more hits than the others. Ten suspects in the hazing death remain at large. Six suspects allegedly involved in the hazing case have undergone inquest proceedings on March 2. Another suspect who surrendered to Cavite Gov. Jonvic C. Remulla also underwent inquest proceedings on March 4.
