Makati Health Department cited by PAFP for its residency training program
The Philippine Academy of Family Physicians (PAFP) recognized the Makati Health Department's Family and Community Medicine division for its residency training program, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay announced.
According to Binay, the said achievement made Makati City the first LGU in Metro Manila to have a practice-based residency training program accredited by the PAFP, which signifies the city government's commitment in providing exceptional health services to its citizens.
The city government explained that the department's new residency training program aims to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to healthcare and the production of highly-skilled physicians who are equipped to handle various health concerns and challenges faced by the community.
Binay assured the public that the city government will create more programs and initiatives to further boost the city's healthcare systems.
The PAFP is a professional organization of family physicians in the country whose purpose is to promote excellence in family medicine.
It is a founding and full member of the World Organization of National Colleges and Academies of General Practitioners /Family Physician (WONCA), better known as World Organization of Family Doctors and is a recognized specialty by the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) through the Regulatory Board of Medicine and is the lead specialty society for the division of Family and Community Medicine.
Its members are trained and committed to providing holistic, accessible, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated family-focused care for the Filipino family.
