De La Salle extended its winning streak to 11 games over rival Ateneo with a swift 25-16, 25-20, 25-13 victory in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday, March 5, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Lady Spikers now hold an 11-game head-to-head record over the Blue Eagles as they climbed 3-0 in the standings for the solo lead.
Rookie Angel Canino had yet another impressive showing after erupting for 23 points built on 21 attacks, a block and an ace to steer La Salle to the quick victory.
Jolina dela Cruz and Thea Gagate contributed 13 and 10, respectively.
The Lady Spikers didn't waste any moment and dictated the tone in each set.
"Hindi naman namin 'yong kung nasa taas kami or what. Basta kami tuluy-tuloy lang. One game at a time, remind lang namin sa mga bata 'yong kumpiyansa basta kung ano 'yong sitemng ginagawa namin, apply lang nang apply sa game. 'Yong record sa taas hindi namin basta continuous lang 'yong gagawin namin," said interim head coach Noel Orcullo.
Team captain Faith Nisperos was the lone bright spot for the Blue Eagles with 11 points, while the rest of the team was held to a single-digit production as they slid 1-2 in the standings.
