DepEd offices in Rizal Province shift to distance learning amid transport strike

Public schools in Rizal Province have shifted to Alternative Delivery Mode like modular learning and online learning due to the transportation strike launched by various groups starting Monday, March 6.

In an advisory posted on its official webpage, "DepEd Blue Rizal,"  the Department of Education- Rizal Schools Division Office which covers the entire Rizal Province except for Antipolo City which is under a separate division office, announced that affected public schools are to adopt either modular learning and online learning until such time as public transport becomes available.

Teachers were also urged to exercise due diligence in reaching out to their respective students to ensure the learning continuity while school heads should strive to provide necessary resources for alternative learning.

Private schools, however, are encouraged to adopt the same distance learning modalities whenever necessary according to the same DepEd-Rizal advisory.

The Department of Education- Schools Division Office of Antipolo City (DepEd Antipolo), likewise, announced on its official social media page, “DepEd Tayo Antipolo City” that learners in public schools in the city affected by the transport strike will shift from face-to-face to distance learning modalities like online, modular, and other appropriate distance learning schemes.

However, DepEd Antipolo said that learners who are not affected by the disruption of public transportation in their areas, shall have the usual face-to-face classes.

DepEd Antipolo also directed the school heads to ensure that learning materials are available to the affected learners and that a monitoring mechanism is established to ensure learning continuity.

School teachers affected by the transport strike are urged to inform their respective school heads for a work-from-home arrangement, while non-teaching personnel who are not affected by the disruption of public transportation service are to report to their respective schools or offices.
