Chaka Khan slams Mariah Carey, Adele, Mary J. Blige after she placed No. 29 in Rolling Stone's 'greatest singers' list

American singer Chaka Khan threw shades at younger singers Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige who all placed high ahead of her in Rolling Stone Magazine's 200 Greatest Singers of All Time which came out in January.

Khan, who rolled out the hits "I Feel For You," "Through The Fire," and "I'm Every Woman," questioned the list, although she praised Aretha Franklin when she was told the late singer was ranked No. 1.

"As she f---ing should," answered Khan, on Aretha's rank, during an appearance on Los Angeles Magazine's The Original podcast.

On Mariah who was No. 5 on the list, Khan told podcast host Andrew Goldman: "That must be payola or some s--- like that."

On Mary J. who placed at No. 25, Khan said: "They need hearing aids."

But Khan said she has no problems with Mary J. "She and I have that kind of relationship we can talk ... you know, I love her, she loves me. We don't have a problem."

On Adele's ranking at No. 22, Khan said: "I quit."

Khan, 69, said "no comment" when informed about Beyonce who was at No. 8. "No comment. She's a great singer. She really has the opportunity to be a great singer. She has what it takes. She's got the chops. She does."

Earlier this year, the updated singers' list became controversial after it left out some of the popular singers namely Celine Dion, Pink, Jennifer Hudson, Tony Bennett, Dionne Warwick, etc.
