Defending champion National University tries to stay perfect in three games when it takes on University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday, March 4, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-0), who played their first five-setter match against the Adamson Lady Falcons last March 1, are eyeing a commanding win in their 2 p.m. encounter, with reliable middle blocker Alyssa Solomon expected to put up another impressive showing after erupting for a career-high 28 points the last time.
However, the emerging Golden Tigresses (1-1), who tallied their first win against Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws also last March 1, will be putting up a fight in the tight affair with their equally reliable team captain and graduating Eya Laure in the mix.
Meanwhile, Adamson (1-1) and Far Eastern University (1-1) are raring to bounce back at the expense of each other when they meet at 12 noon.
The Lady Falcons couldn’t complete their come-from-behind win after dragging the reigning champion to their first five-setter game in nearly three years.
But Adamson will be leaning on Kate Santiago and Trisha Tubu once more to bring itself back in the win column.
On the other hand, the Lady Tamaraws, who snapped their 11-game losing streak from last year in their opening match, refused to go down the same path this season.
