Mother, son gunned down in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – A mother and her eldest son were gunned down while her eight-year-old son was wounded in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, March 28.

Police identified the fatalities as Sherly Española, 50, and her 20-year-old son Jason.

Lt. Abegael Donasco, deputy chief of the Talisay City Police Station, said the victims were on their way home to Barangay Matab-ang onboard a motorcycle when they were shot by unidentified perpetrators.

Sherly and Jason died on the spot from bullet wounds in the throat and shoulder.

The child also sustained bullet wounds and was taken to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here, Donasco said. The child is now stable in the hospital, Donasco added.

Recovered from the crime scene were two fired bullets and a slug of a suspected .45 caliber firearm.

Donasco said they have no motive yet on the incident as well as lead on the perpetrators.
