The General Santos Warriors overpowered the Negros Muscovados, 88-74, on Thursday, March 30, to register their second straight win in the OKBet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) Fifth Season at the Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.

A three-pronged attack spearheaded by Cristopher Masaglang pushed the Warriors way ahead, 74-48, and all the Muscovados could do was lessen the margin in the end. Masaglang wound up with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals to earn best player honors. He was supported by prized acquisition Enzo Joson with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds and Nico Elorde with 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Felix Apreku scored only five points, but snagged 10 rebounds to become only the second MPBL player after Mark Yee to amass 1000 rebounds. Negros dropped to 1-3 as only Edrian Lao played above par with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Jonathan Gantalao, Mark Maloles and Roberto Bartolo contributed 9 each, but the Muscovados' lead gunner Pao Javelona went scoreless with only four field goal attempts. The game was tied at 24 after the first quarter, but the Warriors buried the Muscovados behind a 29-13 output at halftime, 53-47. The MPBL goes to the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Friday with Imus battling Quezon City at 4 p.m., Bulacan tackling Makati at 6 p.m. and Nueva Ecija tangling with Rizal at 8 p.m.
