Officials of the Eastern Police District (EPD) warmly welcomed the new regional director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan O. Okubo during his first command visit to the EPD headquarters in Pasig City on Thursday, March 30.
EPD district director Brig. Gen. Wilson Asueta, EPD deputy district director for administration Col. Oscar Jacildo, along with the EPD Command Group and other representatives from the district offices, led a short program to introduce and honor Okubo.
In a press statement released by the EPD, Okubo reminded the officers of their responsibilities to serve and protect their communities.
“I call all our police officers, whatever task that was given to you, gawin natin ng tapat at mahusay (let us do our jobs honestly and efficiently)...Huwag na tayong dumagdag pa sa mga problema na binibigay ng ibang mga tiwaling pulis, tularan natin ang ating mga kasamahan na gumagawa ng tama at mabuti (Let’s not add to the problems caused by corrupt police officers, instead follow in the footsteps of our fellow colleagues who are doing good and right deeds), Okubo said.
“When we give our full service with honesty and integrity, the organization will take care of you, will protect you and will fight for you but when you involve yourselves in any illegal activities, the organization will blow you away,” he added.
As part of the program, Okubo and Asueta handed awards to exceptional EPD personnel for their noteworthy contributions to the EPD’s achievements in its campaigns against criminality and illegal drugs.
The awardees included Col. Gauvin Mel Unos, Chief Mst. Sgt. Gregorio Acabay and Mst. Sgt. Norito Co from the Mandaluyong City Police Station (CPS); Cpt. Jazon Lovendino, Mst. Sgt. Manuel Loria, and Cpl. Frederick Benito from the Pasig CPS; and Maj. Darwin Guerrero and Cpl. Jovanie Balcanao from the EPD - District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU).
During his visit, Okubo also inspected the status of EPD personnel and the implementation of their administrative plans and programs, specifically on “police visibility and presence through patrolling, as well as the Revitalized Pulis sa Barangay (R-PSB) program.”
The regional director also presided over a command conference with EPD officers to discuss the district’s alignment of activities and agendas with the NCRPO.

The courtesy call was made to establish ties and strengthen partnerships between the local government and the police under the new leadership of Okubo.

The mayor also pledged to continue providing assistance to the police force in the conduct of its public safety services in the city.
