Bachmann welcomes Gaston's addition as PSC gears up for busy months ahead
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richard Bachmann welcomed newly appointed commissioner Matthew “Fritz” Gaston who officially reported to the office on Friday, March 31.
Gaston’s appointment completed PSC’s five-man board, joining fellow commissioners Olivia “Bong” Coo, Walter Torres and Edward Hayco.
Bachmann said Gaston’s extensive experience and leadership as sports executive, former athlete and coach serves as a valuable asset to the PSC as it moves forward for a busy rest of the year with now a completed board
“I thank His Excellency President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for appointing Commissioner Gaston as part of the PSC Board,” said Bachmann in a statement.
“I am happy that we are coming into the second quarter of the year with a complete board. With Commissioners Olivia “Bong” Coo, Walter Torres, Edward Hayco and Fritz Gaston, the PSC board is full steam ahead in working to implement the agency’s policies, programs, and carry out the PSC’s mandate for a healthier citizenry,” he added.
With now all hands on deck, the PSC now turns its focus in its bid to assist the athletes and the national team for the upcoming events this year including the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and the 19th Asian Games.
Aside from that, the PSC is also tasked to work hand in hand with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas through an Inter-Agency Task Force that would ensure the successful hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
“Rest assured that the PSC board will give our 101% support to our Filipino athletes in their pursuit of sporting excellence,” he ended.
