4 NPA rebels surrender in Caraga


BUTUAN CITY – Four New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to the police in the Caraga region on Wednesday, March 29.

Their surrender coincided with the 54th anniversary of the NPA. No atrocities were committed by the NPA in the region during the occasion.

Police identified the surrenderers as “Jan-Jan,” “Manuel,” “Marlon,” and “BC.”

Jan-Jan was a collector of the Militia ng Bayan under the Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP) 16, Guerilla Front (GF) 16, of the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).

He surrendered to the Santiago Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Agusan del Sur after being in the underground movement for three years. Jan-Jan turned over a shotgun and ammunition.

Manuel and Marlon were both under the dismantled GF 88, Sub-Regional Committee 3 (SRC3) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCRMC) while BC was from the Squad 2, Platoon Banglas, SRC3, NCMRC.

They yielded to the Agusan del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit and San Luis, Agusan del Sur Municipal Police Station,  Police Regional Office 13 Director Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said.

These three surrenderers yielded three .38 revolvers, two ammunition, two 12-gauge shotguns, and eight 5.56mm ammunition.
