2 Mindanaoans claim multi-million peso lotto winnings

Two lucky winners from Mindanao claimed their multi-million peso lotto jackpot prizes at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Main Office in Mandaluyong City.

"On March 13, 2023, a lucky player from Bayugan, Agusan Del Sur claimed the Mega Lotto 6/45 jackpot prize worth ₱12,171,239.80 drawn on March 6, 2023 with winning combination 26-43-11-18-05-45," PCSO said on Friday, March 31.

In an interview with PCSO, the winner said that she has been playing the lottery for almost two decades now and that her lucky numbers were just randomly picked.

"Sa ngayon po, ilalagak ko muna sa banko at pagiisipang mabuti kung paano ko magagamit ng tama ang napakalaking halaga pong ito na natanggap ko ngayon (For now, I will first deposit it in the bank and think carefully about how I can properly use this huge amount that I received today)," she said.

Meanwhile, a bettor from Davao City, Davao Del Sur also claimed her P29.7 million Grand Lotto 6/55 winnings at the PCSO Office on March 16.

"The winning ticket was bought in one of the lotto outlets in Davao City, Davao Del Sur bearing the combination 45-29-12-03-26-51," PCSO said.

The Davaoeña winner said that she has been trying her luck on the elusive jackpot prize for more than 15 years already and that she always chooses the Lucky Pick or computer-generated combination whenever she plays.

The winner plans on using her winnings to start a motorbike parts and services business and on buying a real estate property.

"According to Republic Act No. 1169, winners have one (1) year from the date of the draw to collect their prize or it will be forfeited and will form part of the PCSO Charity Fund. Winners must sign and write their names at the back of the winning ticket and present two (2) government-issued identification cards in order to claim their winnings.

"Additionally, prizes above Php10,000.00 are subject to a 20% final tax in accordance with the TRAIN Law," PCSO reminded.
