It is unlikely that Vice President Leni Robredo would accept the offer of a group of President Duterte‘s supporters to lead the revolutionary government.

Robredo said it was “laughable” that the Mayor Rodrigo Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordination Committee (MRRD-NECC) turned to her after being snubbed by the President.

“Noong unang nabasa ko natawa ako. Parang gusto kong sabihin constitutional successor po ako, hindi unconstitutional, extraconstitutional successor,” she said on her Sunday radio show.

(I laughed when I first read it. I want to say I’m a constitutional successor, not unconstitutional, extraconstitutional successor.)

MRRD-NECC proposed that a revolutionary government be formed in a bid to hasten efforts to shift toward federalism, but Duterte denied he had something to do with its movement.

 “I don’t care about them, I don’t know anyone from them, and that’s not my job,” Duterte said.

The group is not about to give up just yet, considering Robredo to lead the revolutionary government, which she rejected outright simply because it is illegal.

“Huwag na ako isali kasi never na maging bahagi ako ng isang bagay na iligal (They should not include me because I will never be part of something illegal),”she said.

Robredo stressed she took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution, so she will abide by it while she is the country’s vice president.

“Hindi ako magiging bahagi ng kahit anong galaw na labag sa ating Konstitusyon (I would not take part on any movement that violates our Constitution),” she said.
