Three new COVID cases from overseas Pinoys

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday, Oct. 18, recorded three confirmed COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases of a Filipino national overseas, someone from the Americas.

In its daily tally, the DFA said no new fatality and no new recovery were further reported among Filipinos abroad. 

Since the COVID-19 outbreak started in February this year, the total number of confirmed cases involving overseas Filipinos has already reached 11,149.

Of these figures, the number of fatalities and recoveries are 812 and 7,199, respectively, while the total number of those still undergoing treatment from various hospitals and health facilities abroad is 3,138.

To date, the Middle East and Africa remain as the combined regions with the most number of overseas Filipinos infected with COVID-19 with a total of 7,364, followed by Asia and the Pacific with 1,702, Europe with 1,201, and the Americas with 810. 

“The DFA remains fully committed to monitoring the situation of overseas Filipinos who are affected by the pandemic and remains steadfast in promoting and protecting their welfare,” the foreign affairs office said.
