Tarlac posts 18th COVID-19 fatality; 18 new cases reported
TARLAC CITY, Tarlac (PNA) – A 64-year-old woman from Barangay Matatalaib here was reported to have succumbed to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the province's death toll to 18.
The Tarlac COVID-19 Task Force reported on Saturday that the patient developed mild symptoms of the disease, and was brought to a private hospital on Tuesday where she died upon arrival.
A swab test was immediately conducted and the positive result came out on Friday, the task force said.
Some 18 new infections were also reported. This figure and the one death brought the total cases in the province to 447 with 240 active cases.
Of the 18 cases, 13 came from this city, three from Capas, and two from Pura.
The task force reported that most of the new cases have a history of exposure to COVID-19 patients.
On the other hand, the task force reported that 19 patients have recovered from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 189.
Governor Susan Yap encouraged Tarlaqueños to cooperate in containing the spread of the virus and mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
“We would like to remind everyone to practice personal hygiene and observe public health safety protocols, particularly the use of face mask and face shield in public places,” Yap said in a statement.
