Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus’ RJ Abarrientos bagged the Rookie of the Year award in the Korean Basketball League 2022-23 season.
The former Far Eastern University standout averaged 13.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals to edge a handful of players including fellow Filipino import Rhenz Abando of the Anyang KGC.

Ulsan currently holds a 34-20 record at fourth in the standings, where Abarrientos had seen action in as much as 50 games since signing with the team in 2022. The 23-year-old Gilas member decided to forgo his final year with FEU in the UAAP and go pro overseas. Abando, who was a candidate for the individual honors, averaged 9 points, 2.3 rebound and 1 assist per game for the top seed Anyang with a 37-17 card.
