Several quarantine facilities are set to open in Quezon City in the coming weeks as the local government intensifies its campaign against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by isolating suspected and confirmed patients in the city.

Two new city-funded isolation facilities -- HOPE 4 and HOPE 5 -- will be opened at the Quezon City General Hospital and at Talipapa Senior High School to accommodate some 403 more mild and asymptomatic cases. This brings a total of at least 900 cases that the city can handle through its other HOPE isolation facilities.
Also, additional 10 beds will be allocated for dialysis patients at the Quezon City General Hospital with the procurement of four dialysis machines.
In pushing for building of more quarantine facilities, Mayor Joy Belmonte said "isolation is one of the key strategies in controlling the spread of COVID-19."
"Since we have seen a rise in numbers, we need to expand our quarantine facilities in order to accommodate those who cannot self-isolate in their homes,” Belmonte said. There are 2,233 active COVID-19 cases in the city.
The Quezon City government has partnered with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to open two more facilities that the latter will fund.
"DPWH is currently preparing more than 400 beds in the Emilio Jacinto Senior High School," the local government said, adding that 16 container vans are also already being converted into isolation facilities that will have 64 beds.
Joseph Juico, the head of the city's COVID-19 Task Force, said with these facilities, hospitals in the city will now be able to better manage and accommodate those who need advanced medical care.
“These facilities are meant to unclog the hospitals so that they can focus on patients who are moderate, severe, and critical,” Juico said.
