A fitness gym in Quezon City was raided on Sunday night by authorities for operating despite the general community quarantine (GCQ) restriction.

The Quezon City Task Force Disiplina said in its Facebook page that 12 men were arrested after they were caught inside JN Sports Fitness Gym in Barangay Holy Spirit in an operation conducted following a report received by Task Force Disiplina headed by Rannie Ludovica.
After documentation, the 12 individuals were then turned over to police and would face charges for violation of R.A. 11332 or Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases.
The department added that the gym owner might also face charges for operating the gym and might be served with a closure order.
According to the quarantine guidelines recently set by the national government, fitness gyms are among the establishments that are still not allowed to operate in areas under GCQ.
“On gyms, it was deferred in the Cabinet meeting...where it was decided to give in to demand of frontliners. Included too were internet cafes,” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said, adding that "this meeting superseded the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force)" that previously approved gyms in areas under GCQ.
