PRO 1 still under total lockdown as 10 more cops test positive for COVID-19
PANGASINAN –Ten more personnel from the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) tested positive for the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infection to 66.
This was announced Saturday by PRO 1 Director Brig. Gen. Rodolfo S Azurin.
Azurin said a total of 1,225 personnel have undergone swab test, 1,151 of which yielded negative results, 66 with confirmed infections, and eight awaiting results of their tests.
Forty-seven percent or 31 of PRO 1 66 cases have totally recovered from the virus, leaving the active cases to 35 with no fatality.
Based on their data, most of the cases were from the Regional Headquarters and Pangasinan Provincial Police Office (PPO) with 30, La Union and Ilocos Norte PPOs with two cases each, and 1 case each from Ilocos Sur and Regional Support Units.
Last September 7, Azurin placed the whole PRO 1 compound under indefinite total lockdown.
“We resorted into a lockdown not because the rise in the number of infection is alarming but because we wanted to protect our personnel as well as their families. I could not tell when, but until it is safe and that the mass testing is completed, we will remain locked down,” said Azurin.
Azurin noted that those who have undergone the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR test) would not be allowed to get out of the camp until they complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine regardless of their test result.
“We give our personnel provision of Vitamin C, as well as disposable face masks and face shields, and we work on a skeletal scheme to minimize crowding, that’s the least we could do at the moment,” he added.
Meanwhile, Azurin assured the people that all necessary actions were being taken to contain the virus.
The whole PRO1 compound was still under total lockdown and disinfection of offices, barracks, comfort rooms and other facilities inside camp was still being conducted in coordination with the Department of Health in Region 1.
