Oil spill victims receive P76-M worth of humanitarian aid — DSWD
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units, and the private sector have so far provided over P76-million worth of food and non-food assistance to the victims of the oil spill in Oriental Mindoro on Feb. 28.
Based on the report of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center as of March 30, P76 million worth of assistance was provided to the affected families.
Of this amount, DSWD provided P59.17 million, P1.05 million from the local government units (LGUs), P675,286 from non-government organizations, and P15.67 million from DSWD’s other partners.
The DSWD said the oil spill has affected 36,658 families or 172,928 individuals from 163 barangays in Calabarzon (1,767 households), Mimaropa (27,696 households), and Western Visayas (7,195 households).
It has over P2.032-billion worth of relief resources, comprising P746 million standby funds or quick response fund and P1.286-billion worth of stockpiles that are readily available for distribution
Moreover, the DSWD said it has 83,320 family food packs available in its disaster response centers, of which, 36,673 packs are at the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Pasay City and 46,647 packs are at the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Mandaue City.
There are also 133,362 family food packs available in DSWD field offices in Mimaropa and Western Visayas, while 491,990 family food packs are available in other DSWD field offices, which may support the relief needs of the displaced families.
