BACOLOD CITY – The New People’s Army (NPA) owned up the killing of a watchman at Sitio Tibobong, Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, March 28.
Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of Leonardo Panaligan Command (LPC)-NPA Central Negros Guerilla Front, said that Marvin Caramihan, 50, of Barangay Quintin Remo was an alleged asset or informant of the Army.
Caramihan was gunned down by unidentified armed persons in front of his six-year-old son, according to Major Jovito Bose, Moises Padilla police chief.
Bose said the victim and his son were riding a motorcycle on their way home, when they were waylaid by the perpetrators.
The victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, while his son was unharmed in the incident.
Bose said this is the third insurgency-related incident this year, citing two previous murder cases in the past months.
In a statement dated March 30, the rebel group tagged Caramihan in two killings in the town in July 2016 and November 2022 that claimed the lives of three persons, including their two comrades.
