No truth to allegation that leaking roof in PhilHealth Dagupan destroyed vital documents
DAGUPAN CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) in Dagupan City has denied attempt at a cover-up when the roof in the agency’s Regional Office here leaked last August 19.
“We assure the public that all documents are intact, and are all accounted for,” said PhilHealth Regional Vice President Alberto C. Manduriao.
Manduriao said the leak in the PhilHealth Regional Office occurred at the height of a heavy downpour at around 4:30 p.m. on August 19.
He added the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have also visited the office the same night to conduct an investigation. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also went to the office on August 20 to look into the accident, Manduriao maintained.
“And our office is open to any investigation. All legal documents were safely secured and there is no truth to the allegation that there was a cover up of evidence,” he added.
Senator Panfilo M. Lacson said on Saturday that the leaking roof at the Information Technology (IT) and accounting offices in PhilHealth Dagupan, that drenched important documents, was the handiwork of the mafia.
“Indication ng gawain ng mafia ‘yan…ganyan ang mafia, mahusay magtakip “Lacson said in a radio interview.
(That is an indication that it was the handiwork of the mafia…that’s how they do it, they’re good at covering up)
This prompted a number of senators to call for an investigation into the cause of the leak.
Among those who expressed concern were Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and Christopher “Bong” Go.
“Ang laki-laki ng pondo ninyo, tapos hindi niyo mapagawa ang bubong ng isang opisina ninyo,“ Go said.
(Your agency has so many funds, but you can’t have the roof in your office fixed)
