Negros governor under self-quarantine

BACOLOD CITY - Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson subjected himself to isolation after a utility worker assigned at his office at the Provincial Capitol here tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The worker felt ill on September 1, and  was advised to go home. He was also subjected to a swab test. 

Lacson said he learned about the positive result of the worker’s swab test early Friday, September 4.

Although he had no direct contact with the worker, Lacson still decided to put himself on quarantine as a precautionary measure.

He also advised 20 members of his staff to self-isolate while waiting for their scheduled swab test on September 6.

Contact tracing is now ongoing since the utility worker was assigned to deliver documents to other offices at the Capitol.

Meanwhile, the offices of Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) at the Capitol were placed under lockdown starting Tuesday after a technical assistant of a board member tested positive of the virus. The normal operations will resume Tuesday next week.

The temporary closure of these offices will pave the way for the disinfection and decontamination for several days.
