Mayor Sara says Hugpong to respect term-sharing agreement between Velasco, Cayetano

DAVAO CITY -- Presidential daughter and Mayor Sara Z. Duterte confirmed on Monday that she met with Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco, and assured him that her political party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) will respect the term-sharing agreement he had with Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for the leadership in the House of Representatives.

Duterte said she met with Velasco on Sunday. The meeting was circulated in a social media post.

"Congressman Velasco came to Davao City to personally meet me and discuss Hugpong Ng Pagbabago(HNP)," Duterte said in a statement released on Monday.

The Mayor said Velasco intimated that there will be a Speakership vote, and that he sought for her help, as the chairperson of HNP, with regard the votes of three HNP congressmen from Davao Region.

" I told him that HNP was created to propel unity and development in Davao Region and assist the administration of President Duterte," she said.

Duterte said she also emphasized to Velasco that HNP will respect the term-sharing agreement as ordered by the President last year.

She added that HNP also fully supported Presidential Proclamation 1027, calling for a special session in the House to fast-track the approval of 2021 General Appropriations Act.
