QUEZON – The mayor of Mauban town here has disclosed that she has been infected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Mayor Marita Llamas, in a post on her Facebook account, admitted that she received the result of her reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test which showed that she was positive for COVID-19.
Llamas also said she was asymptomatic, was in good condition, and was in home quarantine.
“Kahit maingat at mahigpit tayong tumatalima sa itinalagang public health standards ay nangyari pa rin and hindi inaasahan” she said.
(Even after we were careful and strict in our compliance with public health standards, the unaccepted still happened)
She urged her townmates who may have had direct or indirect contact with her to impose self-quarantine, and reminded her constituents to follow the” stay at home” advisory that had been issued by the government.
In the first four months since the outbreak in March, Mauban town had been COVID-19 free.
However, it was only in the last few weeks that COVID-19 cases started to be recorded. The number of confirmed cases has reached 91, with 54 recoveries and 37 active cases, as of 10 a.m., August 23.
This was since the first positive case in the town was reported on July 25, according to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO).
