A 23-year-old man was arrested for posing as a police officer and demanded for the immediate release of his motorcycle on Wednesday, March 29.

Col. Renato Ocampo, city police chief, said the suspect, identified as Lowell Ace Dahay, was arrested at around 1:22 p.m. inside the Traffic Management Office in Parañaque City.

In a report submitted to the Southern Police District, the chief of Parañaque Traffic Management Office (PTMO), Reynaldo Murrilo, 55, requested for police assistance for the arrest of Dahay who posed as a police officer.

Murillo said the suspect appeared in their office claiming to be a police officer and demanded for the immediate release of his motorcycle that was impounded due to a traffic violation.

Responding personnel from the Parañaque police sub-station 5 found the suspect not a member of the Philippine National
Police (PNP) but an agent of the  Criminal Intelligence and Detection Group (CIDG).

The suspect was detained at the Parañaque police custodial facility. He was charged for violation of Article 177 or usurpation of
authority or official function.
