Dialysis center for COVID-19 patients to open at Quezon City hospital
A dialysis center for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients will open at the Quezon City General Hospital and Medical Center (QCGHMC) on Monday, October 19.Â
The facility is located at the ground floor of the QCGHMC Extension Facility and will have four machines for COVID-19 patients who need dialysis. The facility can accommodate up to 12 patients per day.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government will shoulder the dialysis fee of QC residents who are COVID-19 positive.
"Ngayong mayroon na tayong dialysis center na solely for our COVID-19 patients, mas magiging madali na ang pagbibigay serbisyo sa kanila (Now that we have a dialysis center solely for COVID-19 patients, it will be easy to serve them)," she said in a statement released Sunday.
The dialysis center received its Department of Health (DOH) accreditation on Friday, October 16.
Belmonte said dialysis patients who will test positive in a swab test will automatically be admitted to the COVID-19 dialysis center ward.
Dr. Josephine Sabando, QCGHMC Director, assured that they will implement health and safety measures and install facilities that will ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of the dialysis center to keep patients and health workers safe from infection.
"We see to it that aside from our patients, our healthcare workers are also being taken cared of," she said in a statement.
