DFA reports no new COVID-19 fatality, recovery among overseas Filipinos
No new fatality due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) was reported among Filipinos abroad Saturday, marking the third consecutive day with no COVID-19 death, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
No new recovery among migrant Filipinos was also reported while one new confirmed case was recorded.
The latest data, which came from a lone report from Asia and the Pacific, brought the total confirmed cases to 11,146 while the death toll remains at 811 and recoveries at 7,184. Active cases are at 3,151.
According to the Foreign Affairs department, compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of COVID-19 fatalities and those under treatment decreased slightly to 7.28 percent and 28.72 percent, respectively.
The total number of recoveries, on the other hand, saw a slight increase to 64.45 percent.
Data as of Oct. 17 showed that most cases of Filipino affected by the dreaded disease are recorded in the Middle East/Africa with 7,364 cases. More than half of them or 4,540 have already recovered. The region also recorded the highest number of fatalities among Filipinos with 529 deaths.
The rest of the cases abroad are scattered in Asia Pacific Region, Europe, and the Americas.
The Asia and Pacific Region has 1,757 total cases with 1,227 recoveries, and nine deaths. Europe has 1,214 cases with 951 recoveries and 95 deaths while Americas recorded 811 cases with 466 recoveries and 178 deaths.
